The Russian Padel Federation has completed the registration process and confirmed the lineup of participants for the upcoming international padel tournament “Moscow 2024,” which will take place from September 19 to 21 at the International Boxing Center in Luzhniki.
The tournament will feature 16 men’s and 16 women’s pairs from Russia, Argentina, Spain, Italy and France.
Among the players competing are representatives from the top 100 of the FIP world ranking. The top-seeded men’s pair will be José David Sánchez from Spain (ranked 76th in the FIP) and Aris Patiniotis of Italy (71st). Another notable pair includes Argentina’s Cristian Germán Gutiérrez (73rd) and his countryman Ignacio Piotto (89th). Argentine star Tito Allemandi is another standout player; Allemandi has reached the finals of the World Padel Tour multiple times and has twice become a world champion as part of Argentina’s national team.
In the women’s tournament, the highest-ranked player by FIP ranking is Lorena Vano Martín of Italy (60th), who will compete alongside Spain’s Carmen Castillón (67th). Special attention should be given to padel legend Alba Galán, sister of Alejandro Galán, the former world No. 1 in men’s padel. Alba Galán, who previously reached 6th place in the FIP world ranking, retired from professional padel two years ago to focus on coaching. However, she is making a special return to the court for the Moscow tournament.
Four Russian men’s and four Russian women’s pairs have been granted Wild Cards by the tournament organizers based on the PFR national ranking. The Wild Cards were awarded to the players occupying the top positions in the national ranking.
